Yellowstone Comes to a Close: Final Episodes Premiere November 10

After six years, five seasons, and several delays, Taylor Sheridan’s hit show Yellowstone officially ends without lead star Kevin Costner.

The Yellowstone crew last appeared in November 2022, when the first half of the fifth season ended with its seventh episode. Seven more episodes were planned for summer but will now premiere tonight. Fans have waited eagerly for this finale.

Cast Reflects on the Bittersweet Ending

Ahead of the finale, the cast—including Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, Ian Bohen, and Gil Birmingham—shared their feelings.

When Entertainment Tonight asked each actor to describe the moment in one word, they said profound, beautiful, heartbreaking, epic, tipping point, astonishing, cathartic, deeply moving, and bittersweet.

Kevin Costner Confirms Departure

Kevin Costner announced last May on Instagram that he would not return for the final episodes. He explained, “After this long year-and-a-half of working on Horizon… and thinking about Yellowstone, I realized I cannot continue season 5-B or the future.”

Even without him, Chris McCarthy, President & CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, highlighted the show’s impact. “Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we launched an entire universe of hits—from 1883 to Tulsa King,” he said. He added that upcoming sequels will continue the legacy under Taylor Sheridan’s guidance.

David Glasser, CEO of 101 Studios and executive producer of Yellowstone, added, “The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off. We are excited to bring this new journey to audiences worldwide.”

What Fans Can Expect

Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, promises the finale is “as juicy as it gets.” In a featurette for the DVD and Blu-ray, he teased the dramatic ending and reflected on why Yellowstone became a hit after 2018.

“Love, family, and loyalty to your tribe—that’s a huge theme in the show,” Grimes said. “Kayce struggles to choose between his father and his wife and son. That conflict drives the drama because everyone fights for their team.”

He added, “There’s no right team or wrong team. Everyone just tries to figure out what works best for themselves.”

Overall, Yellowstone’s final episodes promise drama, family conflict, and high stakes. Fans can expect a fitting conclusion to the Dutton saga.
