Law & Order: SVU Season 25 Filming Spotted Across New York City
The crew behind the iconic crime drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit kicked off filming for its 25th season in August, capturing scenes throughout New York City. Locations have included Brooklyn Heights, Washington Heights, Manhattan College in Fieldston, and various streets in The Bronx.
Crash Scene Filmed in Riverdale
On Friday, August 29, the production filmed an accident involving a black passenger vehicle and a school bus at the intersection of Oxford Avenue and West 236th Street in Riverdale. Authorities temporarily shut down the intersection to traffic, and dozens of local residents observed the filming from across the street.
Mariska Hargitay Spotted on Campus
Detective Olivia Benson herself, Mariska Hargitay, was not present during the Riverdale shoot. However, she appeared in several TikTok videos during filming at Manhattan College the previous week. Hargitay, who recently produced the HBO documentary My Mom Jayne about her mother, actress Jayne Mansfield, was praised by fans online. One TikTok user wrote, “Seeing this diva on campus was simply the best thing ever.” Meanwhile, a former student remarked, “Of course! Five years after I graduate, something cool happens.”
Scenes Capture Arrests and Police Action
Videos shared on TikTok showed detectives and uniformed officers escorting two men from a school. In another clip, Hargitay’s character is seen placing a suspect into a patrol car, giving fans a glimpse of the action-packed scenes.
Student Reactions to the Shoot
One student, Gael, told Norwood News that his class was unexpectedly canceled due to the filming. He said, “I woke up for no reason and my teacher didn’t email me whether there was class or not.” He added that while the school had warned students about the shoot, he did not anticipate missing class because his classroom was located in the basement. “It was good to watch it since I had grown up watching them a little bit,” he said.
