‘General Hospital’ Star Bids Goodbye to Beloved Character After Brief Stint
“General Hospital” star Daniel Goddard bids farewell to his character, Professor Henry Dalton, following a brief but memorable stint on the show.
According to Soap Opera Digest, a spokesperson for the hit ABC soap confirmed Goddard’s exit, less than a year after his debut in April.
“We can confirm that Daniel Goddard has exited ‘General Hospital’ as Professor Henry Dalton,” the source told the outlet. “Executive Producer Frank Valentini says, ‘I really enjoyed working with Daniel. It was a short-term role from the start, and we appreciate what a good job Daniel did with it. We wish him all the best in the future.’”
Prior to playing Dalton on “General Hospital,” Goddard became a household name on “The Young and the Restless” as Cane Ashby.
What Happened to Henry Dalton on ‘General Hospital’
In Wednesday’s episode of “General Hospital,” Dalton drunkenly confessed to Josslyn that he was indeed conducting illegal testing on animals, proving Emma’s suspicions.
He then rushed to Wyndemere to meet his co-conspirator, Sidwell. Meanwhile, Britt sneered to Sidwell that Dalton had become a liability and should be eliminated. Later, Sidwell calmly pulled out a gun and shot Dalton in the chest.Daniel Goddard Stays Mum About Dalton’s Future
Meanwhile, Goddard seems to remain tight-lipped about what’s next for his character on “General Hospital.”
On Wednesday, the actor turned to Instagram, asking fans for their thoughts on Dalton, though he didn’t reveal whether his character had been killed off.
Instead, he highlighted scenes with his co-star Genie Francis (Laura Spencer).
“On a separate note, I hope you’re enjoying Dalton on ‘General Hospital.’ It’s getting messy,” Goddard said in a short video. “And what’s up with Laura slapping me? What’s up with that?”
He continued:
“I mean, my mom on ‘The Young and the Restless,’ now is my nemesis on ‘General Hospital’ and I got slapped. But you know what? I love you Genie Francis. More than you’ll ever know. And to work with you is such an honor and privilege.”
Goddard recently lost his father and confirmed that he’s flying back to Australia for the funeral.
“I fly back to Australia tonight for my dad’s funeral. Thank you for your condolences and compassion since the news of his passing,” the actor wrote. “I’m so grateful for your love and support. You have no idea how much it means to me.”
