Emmerdale’s Dominic Brunt declares love as he opens up about Lisa Riley’s ‘great’ loss
Emmerdale’s Dominic Brunt admitted how proud he is of his on-screen wife after her candid discussions in the jungle about her “great” loss.
Dominic has played the role of Paddy Kirk since 1997, and previously shared his tactic to get Lisa Riley to return to the ITV soap. He said: “Oh I just told her a lie, yeah, she said: ‘Is it still full on, is it still really busy?’
“I think we were filming two or three episodes a week at that point when she left. I said: ‘No, no, no, it’s calm. You can be busy then you go quiet then you go busy then quiet.’
“Then two years later she was going: ‘You lied to me!’ and I was like” to which he shrugged his arms. Explaining his reason for the lie, he added: “I just wanted her back because I really missed her!”

Lisa is a long-standing resident of the Dales after taking on the role of Mandy Dingle in 1995 before finally landing the role as a full-time job in 2019.
Mandy first fell in love with Paddy Kirk in 1997 but the pair broke up time and time again before finally agreeing to stay together in 2023.

Lisa has been Down Under for the last two weeks as she participates in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, but viewers praised her conversation with Jack Osbourne over their loss.
Her mum, Cath, died of secondary breast cancer in 2012 at just 58 years old.
Speaking to the Mirror, Dominic said: “I thought the first time when she sat with Jack was a real look into the real Lisa,
“She spots things that other people don’t and is really empathetic. As soon as she sat down with him, I thought, ‘oh, this is really going to be good.’
“You know, two people that have suffered quite greatly in their lives. I don’t think Lisa will ever get used to the loss of her mum.”
As he shared he knew viewers would love her, labelling her a “force of nature”, he was asked if he’d consider going in the jungle.
Dominic replied: “I wouldn’t really do anything like that. I do the odd quiz show when they say it’s like a charity quiz show, and do all that, like general knowledge stuff. I think it’s brilliant that Lisa does it, but she’s built for that.
“But I just can’t see myself doing that. I haven’t got that in me. I think I’d be the one that sits in the corner very quietly, doesn’t get involved, is very shy, very, very quiet, and I think I’d get voted off first.”
