Roy shocked in Coronation Street as he catches Shona committing a betrayal
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) is a busy man in Coronation Street. Amid running a café in Weatherfield, going bat hunting, and looking out for his many loved ones, Roy recently started writing letters to prisoners.
Prior to revealing this secret, Roy was acting strangely ahead of the arrival of the postman. It caused Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) some concern, as she began to wonder if Roy was hiding something about his health.
Roy confirmed that wasn’t the case, and that he had started writing to people behind bars because as a man who’s been there, he knows how lonely a prison cell can be.
Following the start of this new story, it got us thinking about the possibility of this plot connecting with the upcoming Corriedale crossover episode.
The instalment, which is going to air at the start of 2026, will see characters from Weatherfield and Emmerdale crossover for the first time ever.

Over in Emmerdale, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) are hoping they’ll soon see the back of Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) so they can continue their relationship.
Kev was released from prison after spending 20 years behind bars, so the police proving that he’s been involved in another crime will mean he is sent back inside.
If being imprisoned again serves as Kev’s exit story, could he take to writing to Roy to get him through each day?
It’s going to be a case of waiting to see if this theory comes true but until then, back to what’s ahead for Roy in the near future.

In the café, Roy appears flustered and Nina picks up on it. She later tells Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) that Roy received a letter this morning which seemed to unnerve him.
Shona decides to go through the post to get to the bottom of it, but is then caught by Roy.
How will he react?
