Coronation Street fans spot Becky Swain and DI Costello ‘blunder’ amid killer plot
Coronation Street fans think they have spotted a ‘blunder’ by Becky Swain and DI Costello as the drama between the pair continues to brew.
Those who follow the ITV soap now know that the head of Weatherfield’s CID was behind helping Becky fake her own death, leading her former wife, Lisa Swain, and their daughter, Betsy, to grieve for almost four years.
Lisa, and her daughter Betsy, were led to believe that Becky had been killed in the line of duty before her sudden appearance in Weatherfield in September.
Becky went on to claim that she had been in Spain, having been put in witness protection following a botched undercover operation. But her return came after Lisa and Underworld factory boss Carla had moved into their first home together, and officially got engaged in a public display outside of the Underworld factory following a number of failed proposal attempts.
And Becky’s intention to get her family back together are clear, all while Costello puts her under pressure to return to Spain. During the latest visit to Weatherfield on Monday night (November 24), Corrie viewers saw Becky arrive at No.6 with a shaken Betsy in tow, revealing she’d been hit with yet another chilling death threat – this time a funeral wreath left on her doorstep, marked “Rest in Peace – Again.”
Betsy pleaded with Lisa to step in and protect Becky. But taking matters into her own hands, Becky met with Costello in the ginnel and told him she knew it was him who had sent the wreath. He denied it, and warned her that the longer she stays in Weatherfield, the longer her and Betsy’s life remain in danger.
Becky vowed to sort it out for herself, and was later seen partaking in threats of her own as she sent Costello pictures of his daughter hanging out in the precinct and he later reminded her who she was dealing with. But it was their meeting in broad daylight that caught viewers’ attention.
@Fake_TV_Chef said: “The most ridiculous part of this are Becky and Costello meeting in the ginnel of a street that neither of them live on. #Swarla #Corrie.” @claireh5611 commented: “Really meeting in the ginnel in broad daylight!!! Plus not having a burner phone! Becky is definitely lacking in the ‘how to stay undercover’ skills department #Corrie.”
“While waiting for Costello Becky was playing football and riding around on the push bike with the other ginnel kids #Corrie.” @DavidBoink added: Why are Becky & Costello meeting in ginnel behind Coronation St Isnt there somewhere closer to the station? #Corrie.”
It comes as spoilers for next week have revealed that with Costello still in hospital, Lisa tells Becky they may have traced the lad who attacked the head of Weatherfield’s CID and he goes by the name of Soap. Becky makes out she’s never heard of him, before meeting up with Soap to retrieve Costello’s burner and personal phone but as he hands them over, they hear police sirens.
Soon, Lisa tells Becky the doctors are bringing Costello out of his induced coma. But before they do, at the hospital, Becky checks the coast is clear, before grabbing a syringe, intent on killing him before he regains consciousness. However, as she suddenly comes face to face with Lisa, is the game up?
