Coronation Street fans defend Lisa Swain as they spot same detail in ‘too much’ claim
Coronation Street fans have been keen to defend Lisa Swain as they pointed out that she too is a victim of Becky Swain and DI Costello’s games.
The detective sergeant has seemingly struggled to get her head together ever since her late wife emerged from the dead and confronted her in the living room of her new home, No6. Coronation Street, on their daughter Betsy’s 18th birthday.
Back in September, fans of the ITV soap will recall seeing Lisa’a jaw – as well as her glass of wine – hit the floor as she came face-to-face with Becky, who was believed to have died in the line of duty almost four years ago.
Her return came after Lisa and her new partner, Carla Connor had moved into their first home together, and officially got engaged in a public display outside of the Underworld factory following a number of failed proposal attempts.
Becky, who claimed she was in witness protection in Spain after an undercover operation went wrong, is now not making things very easy for Carla, with her clear intention to get her family back together, while Costello puts her under pressure to return to Spain.
While Carla has tried to understand Lisa’s unexpected situation, Becky’s constant appearances in their home and interference finally caused her to snap, after she blamed her for her arrest during Friday’s (November 21) episode of Corrie for reported fraudulent activity at the factory.
Once released, Carla summoned Becky to the house and it wasn’t long until she pounced, before Lisa walked in and stopped her pinning Becky to the sofa. It was claimed that a disgruntled client was behind the complaint, meaning Carla only played into Becky’s hands as she continued to attempt to win her family back.
This week, with an attack on Costello causing a major distraction, her heart broken, Corrie fans will see Carla deciding she’s going to call time on her relationship. Later, Carla breaks the news to Lisa that it’s over between them, leaving her stunned.

But some fans have been keen to defend Lisa, after actor Daon Broni, who plays Costello, mentioned in an inteview how his character is playing his colleague, played by Vicky Myers.
@AuntieThope said: “DS Swain is being managed/controlled by Costello and Falconer [Becky]. It’s too much #swarla #corrie.” @swarlanations replied: “If it is a coercive control relationship between Costello and Lisa then there is nothing enigmatic about it. It’s abuse.”
@swarlascrisps added: “Listen, Lisa is 100% being manipulated by Becky, but I feel like it’s a bit unfair to say she’s buried her head in the sand and hasn’t looked into Becky at all, because she has, she’s gone to Costello multiple times, and every time, he’s backed up Becky’s story #swarla.”
