Emmerdale new Lewis romance ‘sealed’ as fans spot unexpected spark
Emmerdale fans are convinced a new romance is on the horizon for Lewis Barton (played by Bradley Riches). During Thursday’s (November 20) instalment of the ITV soap, Lewis abruptly left his shift in the cafe after becoming overwhelmed.Lewis, who has autism, and finds that loud noises can be triggering for him. When it’s loud in the cafe, he often puts headphones in to distract himself until he feels calm again.

But it became too much for Lewis in tonight’s episode as he ran out of the cafe in a panic. Back at home, Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) explained how she was there to support Lewis, but refrained from forcing him to open up. When Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) returned home, he realised something was wrong with his friend, and managed to get Lewis to open up about how he was feeling.
Lewis explained that when life becomes overwhelming, it can feel as though all his energy has been drained.
He described that during his toughest moments, ordinary sensations become amplified and even the sound of his own heartbeat can feel intense.
With Vinny listening intently, the pair appeared to share a moment. Although Vinny snapped out of it upon realising what he was doing, it led fans to speculate that their friendship might blossom into something more.
Taking to X with their theories, one wrote: “They are definitely 100% setting up Lewis and Vinny.”
“Vinny and Lewis gonna hook up,” echoed a second as another agreed: “Lewis and Vinny are going to become a thing, aren’t they?”
A fourth added: “I’m more convinced than ever that Lewis and Vinny are gonna be a thing.”
Another posted: “Oh gawd it’s not going to be Vinny and Lewis is it???”
Lewis is unaware that his friend could be harbouring feelings for him, but that is not the only secret he’s being kept in the dark about.
It was recently revealed that Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) is Lewis’s biological father, the result of a one-night stand with Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney).
During tonight’s episode, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) and Nicola deduced that Kev was Lewis’ real dad after he recalled having a baby with a barmaid named Emma, who was killed after being pushed off a viaduct.
Although Liam insisted that Lewis has a right to know the truth about his father, Nicola was adamant that they should keep it from him.
