Fin Tutuola’s Undercover Adventures
Stepping outside the uniform is one of Ice T’s favorite aspects of playing Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola on Law & Order: SVU. Over the years, Fin and his squad have gone undercover to solve tough cases, blending into the streets to track down criminals. Ice T’s Favorite Undercover Role
In a behind-the-scenes video from 2019, the SVU stars shared their favorite undercover experiences. Ice T laughed as he revealed, “Anytime I get to dress up like a player.” He referred to Season 19’s episode “Gone Fishin’,” where Fin sported a white Guayabera shirt and matching Panama hat while hunting a serial rapist in Cuba. The playful outfit made the serious mission even more memorable.

Mariska Hargitay also shared her favorite undercover role. She recalled Season 9’s episode “Undercover,” when Olivia Benson disguised herself as an inmate at Sealview and faced off against Johnny Messner’s prison guard. “We were fighting so well, but it was real and it was good and it was challenging,” Hargitay said. “I loved working with him.”
A Longtime Love for the SVU Crew
Ice T joined SVU in 2000 during Season 2’s premiere episode, “Wrong Is Right.” Since then, he has enjoyed working with the “beautiful” cast and crew. “I love working with [Hargitay], I love working with everybody. We get new cast members, and we’re just very fortunate,” Ice T shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2024. “The fan base just keeps growing.”
Hints About Season 27
As fans eagerly await SVU Season 27, Ice T teased some surprises for Fin. “In the first episode, something bad happens to me, and I end up in the hospital,” he told People in August 2025. He added that scripts remain a mystery until filming. “When I showed up for the first episode, I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m getting my ass beat? Really?’”
Additionally, Ice T hinted at potential developments for other characters. He joked about a possible romance between Benson and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), saying, “I don’t know what’s going on, but I’ve been telling them to get a room for a long time.”
